Long-distance coaches are the budget route — surprisingly comfortable, direct into the Transylvanian cities, and honest about taking their time. The trick is knowing they arrive at dawn, and having someone waiting.

FlixBus and the Romanian diaspora operators run dense networks between Germany/Austria and Transylvania — the diaspora buses in particular go everywhere Romanians work abroad, which is everywhere.

Buses inside Romania
Between cities, minibuses (microbuz) from the local bus station (autogara) fill the gaps the railway leaves — frequent, cheap, cash-friendly. Look up departures on autogari.ro; for the villages themselves there is often one bus a day or none, which is where our transfers come in.
Worth knowing
- ·Overnight coaches arrive between 5 and 7 am — tell us and we schedule your pickup for dawn.
- ·Luggage rides below; keep documents and valuables in the cabin.
- ·Book FlixBus early for the €30–50 fares; diaspora operators often take phone bookings only.
- ·Border control wakes everyone briefly — passports at hand.
