Piatra Craiului — "the King's Stone" — is a thin limestone wall that runs north-to-south for 25 kilometres. Exposed scrambling in places. Not a casual hike. Storm shelter is rare on the ridge.

A timber lodge at 1,360m on the saddle between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului — wide skies, no neighbours.
