Transalpina

The highest paved road in Romania — quieter than Transfăgărășan, more dramatic in places.

About

The Transalpina (DN67C) crosses the Parâng Mountains at 2,145m — higher than the Transfăgărășan. Often called "the King's Road" because King Carol II had it paved in the 1930s for his summer cars. Less famous internationally, which means you can actually stop at the top to take a photograph without queuing.
